3.1 Health Unit Responsibilities

3.1.1 The Occupational Safety, Health and Medical Services Division shall provide medical services as described below:

  1. The primary function of the Ames Health Unit involves providing initial emergency medical care and response for Federal personnel, contractor personnel, and visitors who become ill or who are injured at Ames facilities.
  2. The second function involves providing required occupational health surveillance exams for civil servants.
  3. The third function is to promote wellness through health maintenance exams for civil servants and other wellness activities.

3.1.2 Employees

  1. All NASA civil service employees shall report any work-related injuries and/or illnesses to their supervisor and to the Ames Health Unit.
  2. Employees who become aware of a work-related injury and/or illness during off-duty hours shall notify their supervisor and the Ames Health Unit by at least the next business day.

3.2 Emergency Care and Response

3.2.1 Walk-in Service: For emergency walk-in assistance for injury or illness go the Ames Health Unit building N215 between 7:30am and 4:30pm Monday through Friday except Federal holidays.

3.2.2 Local Emergencies: For injury or illness emergencies at Moffett Field call 911 from a base phone or 650-604-5555 from a cell phone.

3.2.3 International Emergencies for NASA Civil Servants: For international/overseas travel contact the Ames Health Unit for current information on international evacuation assistance.
